We’re committed to continuous improvement at Laser Short Courses and making sure you have the best user experience. You may have noticed a few changes around the site already, but here is a list of exciting developments we’ve made recently:

Website design

We’ve had a makeover! We wanted to update the look of the website for ease of use and navigation, as well as to make it more visually appealing. We hope you like our new look.

Price drop

During this cost of living crisis when lots of companies are raising prices, we have decided to lower ours. We believe in accessible, affordable learning for all and have dropped our individual course price from £30 to £24.99.

We have also decided to extend our NCFE CACHE e-Certificates half-price offer for the foreseeable, so NCFE CACHE e-Certificates are now £4.99.

Checkout

We have changed our payment provider from PayPal to Stripe to make the checkout experience more seamless, especially for mobile users! This change applies to courses, e-Certificates, and licence purchases (for organisational accounts).

Dyslexia Style Guide 2023

The British Dyslexia Association have recently published a new Dyslexia Style Guide, which provides principles that can help ensure that written material considers the difficulties experienced by some dyslexic people and allows for the use of text to speech to facilitate ease of reading.

Our courses have always been formatted using a BDA style guide, but there has been some additional guidance added to the 2023 style guide. Moving forward, every new course will reflect the latest guidance and any existing courses will be updated as we review them.

Ratings and comments

You can now leave us feedback on the quality of our course content. After successfully completing a course, you are now asked to rate the course from 1-5 stars and can leave a comment. This is optional, but our Content team appreciates any and all feedback on our courses.

NCFE CACHE endorsed Care courses

We have sent a number of our Care courses to the leading awarding organisation, NCFE CACHE, for endorsement. We currently have approval on x8 of our Care courses and are in the process of getting more endorsed.

This means that learners who successfully complete any NCFE CACHE endorsed course will have the option of purchasing a NCFE CACHE e-Certificate (for £4.99) as additional evidence of their learning.

New courses

We have 145 short courses for you to choose from covering Education, Business, Care, and Compliance (and 4 childcare courses translated into Arabic). We are always adding new courses and welcome suggestions about new course that you would have to see.

Our latest course is ‘Understanding cognitive development in children’ and includes this fantastic e-Book, which can be downloaded here. If you like this e-Book, you may wish to purchase the full course.

Learner batch upload

For organisational accounts: Org. Admins can now add a batch of learners (rather than adding them one by one). Steps below:

1. Navigate to the Learners tab

2. Click ‘Add Learners’

3. Click ‘Add a Batch of Learners’

4. You can upload a CSV spreadsheet containing details for a whole batch of learners here. The CSV spreadsheet must be formatted exactly the same as the template. If this is your first time uploading learners, click on ‘Click here to download the template CSV file’

5. Enter your learner details into the columns (First Name, Surname, Email) and Save

6. Click ‘Choose file’, select your saved s/sheet, and click ‘Upload’

7. You will then see a Data Preview, where you can then check all of the details are correct

8. If you are happy with the data, click ‘Save’ and the learners will be added

Assign courses

For organisational accounts: Org. Admins can now assign multiple courses to multiple learners, or a single course to multiple learners at the same time. Steps below:

1. Navigate to the Assign Courses tab

2. Click on the course/s you wish to assign

3. Click on a learner/s name to assign the selected courses to them

4. Click ‘Assign’
